Marathons

I ran my first marathon in January of 1999 and have run a total of 25.  I have been fortunate to have run some of the best marathons in the U.S. and even run a couple international races.  I am currently attempting to run a marathon in each of the 50 states.  Of my 25 marathons I have completed 15 states (adding Ironman Louisville to my state total).  Below are some of my favorite races:

NYC Marathon:  A must do race.  Don’t plan on a great finish time here but there is no better way to see New York City.  I ran NYC in 2004

Chicago Marathon:  Another large race where you can actually run a PR.  Very flat course usually comfortable in October.  I ran Chicago in 2005.

Marine Corps Marathon:  I ran this race in 2001 shortly after 9/11.  This race routes you past the Pentagon which was still damaged at that time.  A very scenic course but be prepared for that last .2 at the end of the event.

Madrid Marathon:  I was in Europe on business and decided to stay for this race.  It was a great way to see Madrid.  Those KM markers click off much faster than miles do.  I even went to a bullfight after the race.  I ran Madrid in 2006.

San Diego Marathon:  I nice flat race in one of my favorite cities.  The weather there is always perfect with a great course.  I ran San Diego in 2005.
