Ironman Louisville 2007

After taking a few years off from Ironman distance races I thought I would give the inaugural Louisville race a shot. Before the race started they changed the swim course from a rectangle to an inverted “J” to reduce the effects of the swift currents in the Ohio river from recent flooding. Even with that my swim time as around 10 minutes slower compared to prior Lake Placid swim times. The bike course was very nice. The Kentucky countryside with the horse farms and rolling hills were great. The run was hotter than hell. It was over 95 degrees by the time I started but what can you expect for Kentucky in August. Overall a nice event but be sure to train in the heat if you plan to compete in this one. I finished just under 13 hrs. as the swim was not a mass start so the finish clock was not your actual finish time.
