Retirement – 6 Months Checkpoint

By | January 17, 2024

The beginning of 2024 marked the 6 month point since I officially retired.  I must admit, time has absolutely zipped by.  I have managed to stay quite busy as I ease my way to the new normal.  Much of July was spent in Spain, I also went to the Reno Air Races in September, we went to the Albuquerque Balloon festival in October and I did a solo bike ride from Miami to Jacksonville the first week in November.  This also took place while getting my folks prepared to move to an independent living center.  I did make it a point to stay connected to several of my former co-workers with lunches, dinners and even a visit back to the office.  That said, once you jump off the merry go round, it continues without you not missing a beat.  I do believe I jumped off at the right time.  There are aspects of work I miss but I’m glad I decided on the timing I did.

So what does 2024 look like.  Lots of travel planned, St Martin, southern, Italy, a few trips to Florida, Kilimanjaro climb late summer with some “practice climbing” trips, early fall and some late fall/winter trips.  I will likely do some cycling trips where I will be a tour leader.  Overall it will be a busy year.
