2019 “To-do” list

By | January 2, 2019

January is often filled with resolutions for the new year.  I like to create “to-do lists” and review them on a regular (weekly) basis to make sure progress is being made.  The list has several categories but I wanted to post my fitness plans for the year which includes races/events to compete in.  I consider the readers my accountability partners.

Training is simple, 2000/170.  2000 miles of running and 170 miles (308k yards) of swimming.  They will both take some work but certainly doable.

2019 Big events:

Running:  I want to do the r2r2r, the rim to rim to rim run across the Canyon and back which is done in a single day.  The runner starts at the south rim, crosses to the north rim and returns.  Timing is critical for this race to avoid either very hot weather or snow.  I also plan to do at least two marathons in states that I have yet to complete a marathon in.

Swimming:  In 2018 I did the Sicily to Italy swim.  I truly enjoy the endurance swim events and do the Chesapeake Bay 4.4 mi. swim every year I manage to get in it but this year I will do everything I can to do the Bosphourus Cross Continental Swim in Turkey which is the only swim where you start in one continent and finish in another.  There is a limit of entrants per country and registration has yet to open.
